To log into a WiFi network from the home screen, tap the WiFi signal indicator in the upper right portion of the screen. This will take you to a list of available networks.

Select the network you wish to log into then enter the password for that particular network. If correct password is entered, it will read SUCCESSFULL. If not, it will read FAILED and you will need to re-enter you password.
