CAPPING AND UNDERGROUND

Capping

Specto will be installed below the capping with a hole being cut for the sensor to sit level to the lane at the height of the bowling ball.

Specto is not compatible with above ground ball returns.  You could install it outside the lanes to get 1-3 lanes of coverage depending on the height of the ball return.

Above ground ball returns that have been converted to underground are hit or miss.  The eye of the sensor works best at 4.25" (half the height of the bowling ball).  If the top of the capping to the lane surface clearance is anything above 3" there are usually difficulties in having enough clearance.  There also needs to be enough room above the ball in the ball return to mount the sensor and keep the eye of the sensor less than 4.75". Each situation has to be considered individually.  If the capping is low but there is not room for the sensor to be mounted above the lanes it can be mounted outside the lanes with 3 lanes of coverage.

Underground

Specto is installed with the sensor being independent of the sensor guard.  In order to do so the isolation mount bracket is installed directly into the flooring. Installs that are done with normal wood cribbing under lane usually require nothing special.  Any type of ball return track that is poured concrete or other unconventional installations may require special brackets to be installed that are not included.  Usually the brackets provided can be modified to work but not in all situations.
