CALIBRATION AND FINE TUNING

CALIBRATION CHECK

by clicking Calibration Check, will be directed to the calibration screen that will show you the current calibration. The best way to verify a calibration is to zoom in on the pins and verify the pins are all on the pin spots.

If calibration is good then click the Home icon in the upper right. If calibration is off you can re-calibrate. If you see a questionable reading, then click refresh.

You can also update your lane numbers by changing the starting lane number then clicking save.

FINE TUNING CALIBRATION

For fine tuning, you can use the buttons on the right hand side of the calibration screen. In most instances trying to calibrate with these will not result in good data. They are helpful for minor adjustments. By holding the shift key down when clicking it will enhance the effect. If you have a lane number selected the button will only change that lane. If you have no lane listed then all of the lanes will be adjust simultaneously.

CW & CCW are Clockwise and Counterclockwise rotation - Changes the calibration of lane orientation to the sensor in either a clock wise or counter clockwise location.

LT & RT - Changes the lane to be more left or more right. This can be used when an initial calibration had the bowling balls in the wrong location at the foul line.

UP & DN - Will move the lane up and down.

BOWLING BALL PLACEMENT

After the sensor is aligned, you will be ready to calibrate. Place bowling balls at the foul line for every lane you want to calibrate and 1 bowling ball down towards the pins. The center of the thumb hole will be placed on the 20 board exactly where the lane starts.  The bowling ball down lane can be any distance past the sensor just be sure there are no obstacles inhibiting the sensor from seeing the entire bowling ball. Typically, brighter bowling balls work better.

Note: You must have at least 2 bowling balls at the foul line. Even if you only want to calibrate and read 1 lane you will need a 2nd lane for calibration purposes.

After you have positioned the bowling balls in place, click SCAN. You will see the sensor is seeing. Zoom in with your mouse or with your touch screen to better see the reflections. In this scan you need to identify the bowling balls and hover over them until you get a green circle then select by clicking.

After selecting all of the bowling balls at the foul line and the ball down lane you can click calibrate. It will show you a preview of the calibration. In most instances it is preferred that all bowling balls are green but yellow will be acceptable. When you click rescan you will see the readings vary slightly but will remain within .5 of the 20.0 location. If any reading is questionable, replace it with one that you know had a good reading and continue. You may need to do this more than once until you have a good reading.

You can also double-check calibration by zooming in on the pins to verify that all pins are on the spots shown on the lane.

After double-checking that the readings are consistent then enter your starting lane and click save.
